Cameleon cameras sre designed to work with
the TriVision virtual frame grabber, up to 8 cameras can be
acessed by one TriVison system.
The Cameleon lite is a low cost industrial
camera targeted at simple machine vision systems. It is a compromise
between price and performance and as such should not be directly
compared to cameras costing ten times as much, however, the
specifications of the camera and the lens and the resulting image
are sometimes surprising.
Due to its low cost it is ideally suited
for multiple camera systems whereby an object has to be measured or
analyzed from several directions at the same time.
It is a digital camera. Although the
measurement of the incident light on a pixel sensor is an analog
process, after the on chip conversion to a digital value the
subsequent movement of this data to the host system is completely
digital. The signal to noise ratio and the quality of the image is
related purely to the CCD chip. This digital communication uses the
Firewire or 1394 bus. There is no compression involved all the data
is transported to the user.
The micro lens attached to the cameleon
lite offers all the flexibility of a wide angle lens, and can be
focused from a few centimetres to infinity with only a small
adjustment. However, focal length and the field of view are
fixed and therefore the use of the camera in this form is may limit
some applications.
For more demanding applications the
cameleon light is available with a C mount lens adapter
whereby the user can add any lens which is desired. This version is
called the Cameleon lite plus Several standard lenses including a
vari-focus lens are available from Interay.
The Cameleon lite cannot be externally
synchronized. Interay is busy developing the "cameleon"
which has a higher resolution, a higher frame rate and can be
externally synchronized.

70431 Cameleon lite Plus - C-mount lens version
The C mount lens version is
shipped without a lens which has to be ordered separately, the
following lens are available as standard.
- P536 12 mm lens
- P537 25 mm lens
- P538 Vari focus lens
A 400 mbps 640 by 480 pixel
color or monochrome industrial 1394 camera which can be used for
non intrusive machine measurement and control functions. The
cameleon lite is a low cost camera with a micro lens, it is
intended for applications where the more expensive C mount camera
and lens systems are cost prohibitive. The cameleon lite has been
designed to work with the TriVision virtual frame grabber which is
bundled with the camera. Together these provide a complete ready
to run, stand alone solution for many machine automation
applications
