The application
software and the lighting are very application dependant and have
to be looked at on a per application per customer basis. But the
rest of the stack, the Platform, The Frame Grabber, the Camera and
the Lens are available as a preintegrated black box system from
Interay. A bundle - manufactured and integrated by Interay with
the possibility of adding customised options.
These machine vision
systems are sold under the name of TriVision systems. A TriVision
system consists of 3 fixed parts : the Platform, Framegrabber and
Camera while the lens can be chosen according to the physical
requirements of the application.
A trivision
system based on a camera manufactured by Interay looks like this.
¡¡
Up to 5 Interay
cameras can be connected to one of the vision systems 1394
interfaces. The camera shown here is a
low
cost camera for simple image
processing applications.
But the interay
developed software will also work with all standard
1394 cameras such as cameras from SONY.

StandardsVision Software
TriVision
software tools for machine vision can run on XP, win 2000 or
embedded XP operating systems . Truly open software conforming to
the IEEE 1394 CSR and 1394 camera interface standards. TriVision
tools provide maxmimum functionality encapsulated inside high
level tools in order to provide the simplest and most intuitive
application interface possible.
TriVision
tools provide an integrated API to realtime image processing
aspects such as synchronisdation and triggering. TriVision tools
have been developed from the ground up to solve common industrial
problems. TriVision can be expanded with an integrated motion
vision and I/O API.

In order to
assist with the selection of lenses for a machine vision
application some examples are presented here. Three lenses from
CANON are used to create a range of possibilities.

Image
examples
The images
below were taken with these lenses. The distance to the
"chip" object from the lens was always the same in each
case. Only the lens was changed and refocussed. This distance was
approximatrely 20 cm. The original format of the image (and the
camera sensor) was 640 by 480.

It can be
seen that the HV 75 when used in combination with a 5 mm extension
tube encompasses an enormous range of possibilities for changing
filed of view or object magnification while keeping the distance
object to camera constant.

Consulting
and special algorythyms
Sometimes special
problems require special algorithyms and the deveopment of
specialised image processing applications. Interay can perfom this
software development but will often make use of experts in the
field.

Lighting
systems and advice
Interay reccomends
the company Vision Light Tech for the provision of specilised
machine vision lighting systems and advice.
